Having Fun doing Nothing!

Over the last few of weekends we have had some of the best family weekends ever. We have had fun as a family, some of the most fun we have ever had as a family and it was all because of our schedule. Our normally busy schedule, full of trips out and things to do was derisively empty. Other than going food shopping we had nothing to do and so that is exactly what we did.

We didn't just sit around doing nothing for the whole weekend (although we did do that for a little while), but together we played with the face paints again, modelled some of our clothes in a family fashion show similar to the Vertbaudet fashion show, read books to each other and by ourselves, played with trains, watched some family friendly films, did some colouring, made some cakes, planted some seeds, made tasty dinners, found time to go for a long walk, go to the local park and even talk about our plans for our trip away!

The weekends are looked on as a time for most people to fit as much in as possible, after all those who work Monday to Friday only have the weekend, to do household chores, go shopping, visit with friends and family and catch up on the weeks TV! Sometimes taking some time out from the hectic routine we have created for ourselves is exactly what is needed just to allow you and your family to relax and to recharge your batteries.

So this weekend instead of rushing about and trying to fit everything in to the 48 hours we call the weekend, why not try do the most important jobs only and then do something fun for you and the family that involves you all taking it easy? And if you need some suggestions, why not read my blog post about Family Fun on a budget or see if any of the following take your fancy!
