When we went away to France with the children in the Summer holidays we knew that we were going to need to get the car ready for a long journey. We split the jobs into two the actual car for Daddy to look after and all the extras for me.
Daddy did all the normal "important" things he booked it in for a service (it was fine and sailed through it), made sure that the tyres were all pumped up, that we had all the items we needed in the car (France has a rather cool law saying you have to have things like breathalysers and first aid kits), that there were spare bulbs for the car lights, that there was a full tank of petrol and that the car was topped up with antifreeze and oil and water and everything else that I refuse to acknowledge because I don't like driving let alone making sure the car is ready for me to drive!
I did all the extras. I made sure that there were supplies for BB in case he had low blood sugar whilst we were driving (Drinks, biscuits, Sweets and spare blood test machine), I made sure there were blankets and travel pillows (which were used before we got off the driveway), spare changes of clothes for everyone (I've learnt this the hard way), plastic bags (in case of the need for spare clothes), new games, colouring pencils and books, florescent jackets for the children and us adults, then thanks to a lovely PR I even made sure that there were cloths so that the car would be clean too!
We were sent an OnBoard Cleaning Kit from e-cloth which as you can see Tintin (he's my little Chewing gum wrapper man in the background there) thought was fantastic. Actually I thought it was fantastic too, but then again I am in love with e-cloths as I think they are fantastic. We were also sent a Phone and Sat Nav Cloth, which has been sitting next to Daisy (a gift from Top Ender) until it was needed which was actually quite often as Daddy and I kept using our phones as phones, cameras and computers as well as sat-navs!

Now that we are back from France (and have been for a while lol) I need to go out to the car and replenish everything. I need to refold the blankets so they fit back in the small space, stock back up on juice and snacks (and check the dates on the ones we didn't eat), put more wet wipes and tissues in the car, empty the car bin and generally make sure the car is ready for us and our next long journey... which will be the October half term when we drive to Edinburgh.
I suppose I had also better stock the car up with some Haggis hunting gear whilst I'm thinking about it too!
