Ultimate Summer Driving Playlist

With all the car's I've got to review over the last few weeks (and still have to come!) I've been thinking a fair bit about what playlists I want access to in the cars I'm driving, so it was perfect timing when MoneySupermarket asked me what was on my Ultimate Summer Driving Playlist.

Summer Sandcastles

I did have to think a bit, but decided in the end that the following songs are the ones I want to hear when driving about in this Summer and you'll have to excuse my rather eclectic taste in music!

Beach Baby by The First Class

Honestly has a finer summer tune ever been sung? Okay, so maybe it has but this tune for me is not only one I always associate with sunny days, but it's also exactly the right length to get me from my local supermarket to my house... if I play it twice.

Fait Accompli by Benny Andersson's Band (or if you're Swedish Benny Anderssons Orkester)

Maybe I have a thing for Tommy Körberg, maybe I remember the concert back in 2009 where I first heard this song, or maybe I just like the tune. No matter, why I love the song it's on my list and that's where it's staying.

Love Is All Around Me - Wet Wet Wet

Played at full blast whilst driving past a field full of yellow Rapeseed is one of my favourite family memories and so every time I hear the opening strum, the windows are wound right down, the sunroof is flung open and everyone in the car discovers why we don't normally open the car windows or the sunroof as they pick bugs out of their teeth for the rest of the journey.

Dizzy - Vic Reeves and the Wonderstuff

I knew the song before Vic Reeves and the Wonderstuff brought this one out, but this is the version that I hear when someone says Dizzy... which with me driving round and round the roundabouts in Milton Keynes when I'm not sure what exit I should be taking is fairly often.

Summer Breeze - Seals And Crofts

With the heatwave that we've had I've been wishing for a bit of a Summer Breeze!

Agadoo - Black Lace

Don't complain, you know that you LOVE this song and that every time it's played at a wedding you are always first onto the dance floor shaking your pineapple and doing that thing with your knees. At least with it being played in the car you can't do your embarrassing Dad dance.

Island In The Sun - Weezer

I'm sure this is one of those songs that everyone knows even though they aren't sure how they know it. I didn't even know it was a Weezer song.

Five Colours In Her Hair - McFly

Do do do do do doo, Do do do do do doo, Do do do do do doo! Come on you know you were singing along and it's okay you're allowed to like McFly. Honest.

Stacy's Mom - Fountains of Wayne

So who's sung this putting someone else's name in the song instead of Stacy? Come on, raise your hand. Why am I the only person with my hand raised? I always sing Stiffler's Mom.

Yellow - Coldplay

The colour of summer is yellow right?

Schools Out - Alice Cooper

Well, as of Tuesday it will be for Big Boy, Top Ender and I so I think that we can sing this for a bit just to really push the message home.

So, what's on your ultimate Summer driving playlist? What have I forgotten about that I should include?

Moneysupermarket invited me to take part and have given me some dosh to buy some tunes to add to my summer playlist. Although I'm probably going to use it to pay for petrol...
