The Brilliant Friend

As with most of the children in the world right now, Dan Jon loves playing on his computer with his friends. Some of them live on the other side of the world, some of them used to live locally and have since moved away, some are the children of other bloggers whom he has met at blogging events we've been to and some, well some are children he sees almost every day at School!

One Saturday afternoon, Dan Jon was playing online with a friend who lives about a ten-minute walk away and they were having a great giggle together.

I had been out for most of the day, and popped in to check the family was all still alive before popping back out again to take my Mum home and do a quick top up shop of everything I had forgotten the day before (mainly salad, for some reason I forgot to buy any salad and it was on my list like four times!).

As I came in I saw that Dan Jon was doing a blood test and found out that he was low and had been at least three times since I'd gone out that morning. We put it down to his Cannula being in a brilliant spot, and I didn't think any more of it. Well, apart from ensuring that Dan Jon was consuming some fast-acting glucose to bring his blood sugar level back up to an acceptable level.

A few minutes later and Top Ender, my Mum and I were on our way to Leighton Buzzard.

A few minutes after that and my phone was ringing, but as I was driving I asked Tops to answer, especially as I recognised that the name that flashed up on my screen was the Mum of the boy Dan Jon was playing with.

Top Ender took the call. There was a little conversation, which I couldn't follow as Top Ender's "Uh Huh" and "Yeah" didn't really give me a lot to go on. It was only when she finished the call and told me the Mum had called as Dan Jon's friend had been worried as Dan Jon had said he thought he was low and then disappeared...

Dan Jon's friend, being the brilliant young man that he is, went and told his Mum, who then figured that she should call me, just in case I didn't know and Dan Jon was currently unresponsive in his bedroom, with Flyfour and I none the wiser.

How fantastic is that young man and his Mum?

Seriously, they are the absolute best and I'm so glad that they are family friends.
