What We Are Eating W/C 17th April 2021

Every Saturday, Flyfour and I pop to Tesco to collect our shopping. We've been ordering it as a Click and Collect option for a few months now, with me working out what we need and placing last minute changes on a Friday evening (when I realise I've run out of Bisto or have a sudden urge to buy peanuts), removing most of the items I hastily shoved in my basket to reserve the slot and panicking that I'm not going to remember the security code on my debit card and will have to go and find my wallet.

I can never find my wallet. Or my glasses.

PippaD (Glasses on top of her head, no idea where her wallet is!)

Saturday - Pork Chops with Apple Sauce and Cheese

Top Ender said that we hadn't had pork chops with apple sauce for a while when we were discussing my birthday present, so we decided to have them tonight. Along with Mash and Vegetables. I would say green beans, but I'm the only one that seems to like them. Ooh Sprouts!

Sunday - Stacked Chicken

This is a dish that Flyfour found somewhere and started making for us as an alternative to a traditional Sunday Roast and therefore, in my head, it is healthier because there isn't as much oil and a lack of Yorkshire Puddings so less calorific. I have no clue if that is true, but as he slices potatoes and red onion and stacks them with Chicken Thighs on top and then all cooked in a mix of vinegar and seasoning with the different flavours fusing together and it justs tastes nice!

Monday - Mac and Cheese with Garlic Bread

Flyfour isn't really a fan of Mac and Cheese, but I like to eat meatless on a Monday and this fits the bill! As I make it from scratch (well not the macaroni, I'm not stupid) it will be dairy-free and I can add in a few extras to personalise the dish to my family. A little mustard, a little garlic and possibly some mushrooms (just in my bowl).

I'm serving it with Garlic Bread (gluten-free of course) which I may get Tops to make as Flyfour taught her how to make garlic butter mix to spread on a slice of bread and then bake in the oven. It's a great quick cheating way to make garlic bread and she makes it really well!

Tuesday - Jacket Potatoes

Flyfour isn't around so we'll have Jacket Potatoes tonight, as he wastes the best part and DOESN'T EAT THE SKIN. I know, it's at times like this that I don't know why I married him.

Wednesday - McDonald's

We're back to Rainbows and Brownies tonight and I won't get home until late. I will eventually get Dan Jon back in the routine of cooking for himself and leaving something for Tops and I to reheat when we get in, but this week I figure I'll be kind and give them what they want.

Thursday - Fishfingers Wrap

I'm going to make wraps with salad and fishfingers and serve with corn on the cob and extra salad. I'm drooling already, this might be my favourite meal ever.

Friday - Chicken and Salad with Rice

Flyfour will be home tonight, so we'll attempt to have a sit down meal together as a family. This is the meal that my family and I used to have what seemed like every night in the summer and every night my family had someone come round to join us for a meal. I think it was because we'd all fill up on Salad and Rice and not notice there wasn't a lot of chicken!

So that's what we are eating this week. What about you?

Comments

  1. Online food shopping is the best! I can often be found on a Friday evening adding things to our order.
hehehe! Your glasses are on your head. My dad lost his today and was walking about looking for them and they were on his head. lol
The pork chops sound so good. It's been so long since we've had them too and I do like the sound of the stacked chicken. x
