Testimony S'mores

When we were on camp one of the sessions that had the most impact on me, was when we were creating Testimony S'mores. The idea of the session was to help the Young Women to understand what a Testimony is and how it is created and I thought I'd share it here too because you all might understand a little more about what it is when I say Testimony and also because I wanted to share my totally cool looking Testimony S'more!

A Testimony S'more made at camp

For members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the foundation of a testimony is the knowledge that Heavenly Father lives and loves His children. We are those children, which I think is an amazing thing to know and to be able to feel in our hearts.

The next part of our testimony is about Jesus Christ. We know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, our older brother and that he came to Earth to help us to return to our Heavenly Father by carrying out the Atonement. We know that he lives and that because he has conquered death, that we too one day shall be able to conquer death.

We have a testimony that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God who was called to restore the gospel in these latter days. We know that Joseph Smith was able to translate The Book of Mormon and it is because of him that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Savior’s true Church on the earth was restored and able to continue the work that Jesus Christ himself started.

Lastly, our testimony includes knowing that the Church is led by a living prophet today. Currently, the President and Prophet of the Church is a man called Russell M. Nelson and despite never having met the man, I know that he is honourable, loving and a tiny bit cheeky! Well, I'm basing that on the twinkle in his eye and the little jokes he has made in several of his addresses!

With these as our foundation, our testimony can expand to include all other principles of the Gospel and the extra sprinkles. things like the Young Women's programme, or going to Camp, or Mutual or Seminary or Personal Progress or Family Home Evening or Serving one another gives us an opportunity to strengthen our Testimony and to come to understand how all aspects of our lives are in honour of our Father in Heaven.
